The Last Cortina by Lesney

I bought this car about 30 years ago. It wasn't new in a fairly good conditin. Originally this car was metallic beige, so later I tried to paint it to a similar colour.

But I wasn't satisfied with it, so i tried several other colours - and paints - at the end a light metallic blue became the winner!

Naturally I painred the details, too.

And finally I designed a custom L-type box for it!

No need to worry - the Doctor comes!

This Mercedes-Benz Binz Ambulance car was always one of my favourites, so I restored it with pleasure. Originally it had a strecher with a patient on it, but it was missing when I bought this model, so I needed to get another one. Luckily I managed to buy a newly made one and I painted it.

This model was in a very poor condition, bur nothing was broken and the rear door functioned well.

And I made custom stickers for it, too.

  

And last not least it got a custom E-type box!

AMG Mercedes 500 SEC - á la Matchbox

Although this is not a Lesney product, but a Matchbox International one, I like it very much. 30 years ago and today, too. Now I have no picture before the restoration, but it was the black type which I really don't like. (I don't like generally the black cars.) So I gave him this metallic beige colour.

I painted the small details on this car, too:

And it is for my own collection!

A Lesney SuperFast legend - the Pontiac Coupe

The last year I managed to get a Lesney made MB-22 Superfast lilac Pontiac (in very poor condition) and a red regular wheel one (in better condition). I mixed them, so I assembled and restored a red, SuperFast car with opening doors. When I heard, how much does it cost an original in mint condition, I knew, I will not buy, but make one - of course, for myself!

I replaced the wheels, for smaller ones, because I don't like the Lesney-given exaggerated, too big wheels. It looks, like this:

And adding some details - it looks then more realistic:

And at the and it got a new custom G-type box, with the picture of a red Pontiac on it!

New function for the old Pick-up truck

In the first half of the seventies there was a Ford Pick-up truck, in which there was a lion under a plastic canopy. Yes, it was the so called Wild Life Truck with Rola-Matics function. It was the same model, like the Kennel truck with the four dogs. The big problem in the present days, what sould we do with this pick-up truck without the lion and canopy? Well, this is the question.

At the end, I think, I found a proper solution! It shell deliver small barrels! They are stuck onto a plastic plate which is fixed to the car. The part of the Rola-Matics function, the yellow disc is removed before I fixed the plate with the barrels.

It is obvious, that this way the Rola-matics function doesn't work (let alone the fact, that I bought it in that condition).

Sportscar from the seventies - the BMW 3.0 CSi

Although the Lesney produced this kind of BMW, too, that wasn't a correct shaped replica, so I preferred this Majorette-made one. The only problem with it - the doors, they always stay in a strange position. They should be set alright.

I had a nice new colour spray, which was similar to the original, so it was out of question what colour got this car. I painted the details, too, it should look, like the real car!

As I posted it on the Facebook, someone wrote me at once, that he wanted to buy this BMW. Now this car is in his collection.

From behind the Iron Curtain - Restoration of a Škoda 130

In the second half of the eighties, the Matchbox International produced a Czechoslovakian car, the Škoda 130 LR. This was a surprise for the East European collectors, because it wasn't a usual thing that East European cars would appear in an international model car producer's catalogue. This type of the Škoda was a rallye version, but I made a civil one out of it.

About some 15 yers ago I Tried to repaint it but I didn't like the result. The last year I made the decesion to repaint it; so it got a vivid metallic green colour.

Luckily in this case its parts were alright, I changed only the wheels.

And the last step: paint the details:

Although there were collectors, who wanted to by this Škoda, it has been restored for my own collection!
