A Civil Car Turns Into A Police Car

Although I don't collect Matchboxes with regular wheels, they sometimes appear in my restoration program. Just like this Matchbox Ford Zodiac Mk4. When I saw it the first time, I knew that it will be a police car - the Lesney only produced as a civil one.

In this case the body and the windows were ok, needed no spare parts, so I could start the work.

I had to drill a hole on the roof for the rooflight which was originally a miniature LED bulb.
It got the white colour, and I designed for it a unique Police Car decor, which should be somehow similar to the real UK police cars.

At the end it got an own L-type box, too.

A Big-Big Mercedes

This Mercedes 600 SEL (W140) was a big car, looked bigger than any other Mercedes, so in Hungary its nickname was 'Bálna' means: whale. The Matchbox version is a fairly correct model, but a rarer one.

Originally it looked like this:

It got a dark red metallic paint and I detailed it, too.

And finally I made a custom box for her.

A Popular Model From Majorette - The Renault 18

A nice successor of the Renault 12 - is the 18. It was a nice, modern vehicle and not only the real car was very popular, but its small scale models, too. It was produced in 1:64 by Guisval and Norev, but the best version is made by the French Majorette!

It's always a pleasure to deal with this model car, so I bought one. As we can see, it was high time to restore it:

A general problem with this model is the hole on its roof. What is to be done? I simply filled it with some putty.

The new colour is the metalllic steel blue - of course with the details:

Sedan Mercury Cars

This Mercury Park Lane is not a rare, but very popular model in the Matchbox range. The Lesney had only produced Mercury Park Lane sedan as a Fire Chief and a Police, but no civil car. So I decided to make one, but at the end I made two of them: a light metallic green and a metallic beige. (I think it is not a beige colour, but this name was on the spray.)

The hole of the roof light had to be filled and I replaced the baseplates, because the original was damaged.
